Brussels stole my heart…

Hello Lovelies,

Today’s post is a travel inspired one and it’s on Belgium, Brussels in particular. Last summer I went to Brussels for a long weekend and I absolutely adored it. Home of chocolate, waffles and beer- what more could you ask for?

The Grand Palace, which is the central square of the city, is stunning. All the buildings are painted with gold and there’s a lovely atmosphere. (Brownie points for anyone that can spot the Starbucks- it’s the first thing I noticed!) It’s a wonderful place to visit both in the day and at night.

The Grand Arcade, which is just a few metres away from the Grand Palace, is a beautiful shopping mall filled with shops selling lace, traditional beers, waffles, ice cream and chocolate- of course! There were even a few shops making chocolates in the windows for the crowd to watch.

The chocolate shops were definitely my favourite to visit. They often had little samples to try! The shops had so many cute decorations and gifts too.

But would it be a trip to Belgium if I didn’t go into a Pierre Marcolini? I’d seen online that they were doing the mix’n’match ice creams and I knew I HAD to try one. I had mango sorbet dipped in milk chocolate with nuts and it was so good!

Another on the ‘to do’ list was OF COURSE, The Waffle Factory. It would be rude not to?! I had a Liege waffle with fresh strawberries and lotus biscuit spread. It didn’t disappoint!

Although I didn’t actually have the waffle for breakfast… I had it for a late lunch! My breakfast was actually courtesy of Godiva… and yes, they tasted just as good as they look!

Finally I had to try a beer tasting board. Although I’m much more of a Prosecco&Cocktail girl, it’s a must! I really liked the Jupiler beer but the Strawberry beer was my favourite! So much so, that I ended up bringing some home!

If any of you are looking for a city break away, I couldn’t recommend Brussels enough. I barely touched the edges as there’s so much more to this beautiful city but I can’t wait to return!

Love as always,
